Indian film industry has to spatter across the globe and the users of the film fraternity are making the Bollywood brand bigger and better with the accomplishments in the international arena. Right from grabbing a place in Forbes‘ list of highest paid actors in the world or earning Oscar nominations, Indian celebrities and filmmakers are making headlines across the world.
Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Ekta Kapoor, and Sidharth Kapur, Ambani brothers, Sidharth Roy Kapur, Punit Goenka, Kishore Lulla, Uday Shankar and Subhash Chandra amongst others in Variety’s list of 500 ‘influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry.
The list was released by the American magazine on Thursday night has 12 Indian names who’ve been the most influential business leaders. Based on the official website of Variety 500, the index which shows the achievements of its customers over the prior 12 months is updated annually. The selections are made by the Variety editorial board, which conducts considerable research to create a list of best 500. This season, the list is led by the US (362) accompanied by UK (28), China (20), France (16), Germany (15), India (12), Italy (8) and Spain (6).
Including the name of Bajrangi Bhaijaan of Bollywood Salman Khan, the magazine called him the ruler of Bollywood box office for decades. It said, “Every Salman release creates mass hysteria across India, a frenzy surpassed only by the lovers of South Indian superstar Rajinikanth.” The profile of Salman Khan also has a reference to his charitable trust being human who “targets education and professional medical for the underprivileged.”
India’s global legend Priyanka Chopra is no real surprise on the list as the actress has brought laurels to the country with her ventures in the West. Her profile starts with her big be successful at Miss World Pageant in 2000 and wraps up with her being the global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights. “Besides her acting, Priyanka also takes time to sing and has released three singles — “In My City”, “Exotic”, with Pitbull, and “I Can’t make you love me,”. She also own’s a production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, which Produced “Ventilator“, a Marathi-language film in 2016.
Filmmaker Karan Johar’s profile sings praises of him as ‘one of the most visible faces of Indian entertainment industry’. Karan’s profile says, “The value of Johar in the Indian entertainment space is emphasized by the actual fact that Amazon Prime Video India’s first announced the licensing deal for feature film content was with Dharma.”
However, other than Karan Johar other film Producers; Aditya Chopra, Siddharth Kapur, and Ekta Kapoor names are also mentioned.
