Users are now able to make cashless orders on both Mi.com and the Mi Store app as Google Tez payment service operates on the Unified payments Interface (UPI).
“As a merchant partner for Tez for the business programme, all Xiaomi customers can now seamlessly and securely pay with any bank account stored in their Tez account on their phone,” Sujith Narayanan, Head of Partnerships and Business Development, Tez, said in a statement.
“Xiaomi is currently the number one smartphone brand with a dominant online smartphone market share of 50.8 percent, of which a significant portion is attributed to Mi.com. With this new payment option– Pay through Google Tez on Mi.com and Mi stores, we hope to provide an even better purchasing experience that is truly cashless,” said Raghu Reddy, Head – Online Sales, Xiaomi India, in the statement.
Xiaomi shows in a press declaration that Mi.com on the average gets over 21 million unique guests in a single month and over a million daily productive users, whereas the Mi Store app on Google Play has over 20 million app installs with an increase of six million organic downloads up to now. All of these would noticeably raise Google Tez somewhat in the arriving future. In addition, the Google Tez integration would give Xiaomi customers another reason to work with its e-commerce programs against competitive online marketplaces such as Amazon and Flipkart, as this might give them the choice to cover their purchases directly utilizing their Tez UPI IDs.
Users can pay straight from their bank accounts online for any purchase that they make, further cementing Xiaomi’s determination to contribute to the “Digital India” initiative.
Google had launched its UPI-based Tez repayments software in India in Sept that was built for India. The app had struck more than 7 million users in only five weeks since unveiling. Before this month, Google revealed Tez had seen more than 140 million ventures on its system.
Working on almost all the country’s smartphones, the app comes in English and seven Indian languages (Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu).
